Come enjoy the memorable music, familiar and new, of two winter festivals, Christmas and Chanukah, in Master Chorus Eastside’s unusual and delightful Seasons of Light: Christmas and Chanukah.

Stoke your holiday spirit with sparkling carols such as The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy, Fum Fum Fum, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Morten Lauridsen’s stunning O Nata Lux, and many more. The Chanukah side of the holidays is represented by a new work, Eight Days of Chanukah, by composer and University of Washington professor emeritus, Abraham Kaplan.

“Kaplan’s work is tuneful and folk-like,” says MCE conductor Dr. Linda Gingrich. “It captures the history of Chanukah with melodies that draw on his childhood in Israel, and texts from the Chanukah liturgy and rabbinical poetry. Those who celebrate Chanukah will revel in the music, and those who don’t know much about it will come away with a new understanding of the festival. As well as a greater appreciation of the music and traditions of both holidays.”

Please join us for a conversation with composer Abraham Kaplan, on stage 20 minutes prior to curtain.
