Release Date: Oct. 17, 2014

SR 520 will be completely closed in both directions this weekend. The closure runs from 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17 to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, between Montlake Boulevard and I-405.

Crews will make good use of this closure. Their construction agenda includes beginning to dismantle the “Ramps to Nowhere” near the Arboretum, beginning construction of the 1-mile-long temporary work bridge that will serve as a staging platform for the West Approach Bridge North (WABN), and highway lane striping on the Eastside. Ramp demolition and pile installation for the temporary work bridge can be noisy depending on how far away a home or business is from the activity. To limit neighborhood disturbance, typical hours for pile installation will be between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays, and 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekends. Ramp demolition, which can involve concrete saw-cutting and jackhammering, may occur up until 10 p.m.

Meanwhile, 108th/112th Avenue Northeast will be closed throughout the weekend between 108th Avenue Northeast’s eastbound on-ramp to SR 520 and Northup Way. The 108th/Northup Way intersection will also be closed nightly over the weekend so crews can install striping on local streets around the intersection. Details are below:
