A number of mayors in the region, including Sammamish Mayor Tom Vance, will lend their support to a vital food drive on Sept. 19. The initiative, known as the "Mayors' Day of Concern" food drive, asks shoppers to purchase appropriate food items in a grocery store and then immediately drop them off with volunteers as they exit the store.

Participating stores on the plateau include Safeway, the Issaquah-Pine Lake Road QFC, and the Klahanie QFC. The food items collected at those stores will once again go to the Issaquah Food Bank and the local branch of Hopelink. Only non-perishable items will be accepted.
