In a May 25 letter to the Sound Transit Board, Mayor Don Gerend, writing on behalf of the entire Sammamish City Council, outlined the city's concerns about the Draft ST3 Plan. The essence of the city's message: Sammamish is being asked to pay a lot, but isn't getting sufficient service or enough access to new facilities in return.

Much the same message was delivered to King County Executive Dow Constantine and Metro General Manager Rob Gannon in a June 1 letter regarding the King County Metro DRAFT Long-Range 2040 Plan. Mayor Gerend, again writing on behalf of the City Council, expressed serious concern over, among other things, the absence of daytime and weekend bus service for Sammamish in the 2040 plan.
