2024 ADA Barrier Removal Project
Summary
The City of Sammamish 2024 ADA Barrier Removal Project consists of upgrading non-ADA compliant facilities along 228th Avenue SE, within the City’s right-of-way, at the following locations:
- Sidewalk Repairs Between SE 8th Street and SE 32nd Street
- Curb Ramp Removals at the SE 13th Street Intersection
- Curb Ramp Removals & ADA Retrofits at the SE 27th Street Intersection
The retrofits and repairs will include removing and replacing existing concrete curb, concrete sidewalk, curb ramps, asphalt pavement, traffic control devices, and/or roadway striping.
This project is part of the City of Sammamish ADA Transition Plan. The purpose of the plan is to identify and remove barriers which impede access to City buildings, parks, and pedestrian facilities in the public right-of-way. For more information on the ADA Transition Plan, visit the link below.

Hours of Work
Construction generally starts at 7:00 am and ends at 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. If construction continues into the school year, work hours will be reduced to 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Actual start and end times may vary slightly depending on construction progress.
Traffic Control
All streets will remain open throughout construction. Traffic along 228th Avenue SE will often be reduced to a single lane. Portable message boards will be installed prior construction to inform drivers of lane closures.
School Bus Routes
If construction continues into the school year, school bus routes and schedule will not be changed. We will be working with the contractor and local school districts to ensure unimpeded service in all neighborhoods.
