Human Services
The City of Sammamish promotes a healthy community where every person is considered essential. Meeting basic human needs is considered a shared responsibility.
We collaborate with local and regional agencies that help individuals and families regain well-being and maintain an improved quality of life for all ages. These agencies provide support for education, disability, housing and food assistance, mental health, aging, cultural connectivity and legal assistance.

What is the Sammamish Police Department’s role in immigration enforcement?
The Police Department does not enforce federal civil immigration laws or policy. State law and department policy prohibit Sammamish Police officers from asking or collecting information about a person’s immigration or citizenship status and officers may not detain a person solely to determine immigration status. If there is a criminal investigation of a person, it is possible immigration status may be gathered during the criminal investigation.
Will the police report me or give my information to immigration authorities?
Under state law and County policy, the Department does not collect information on immigration status, so it is unlikely the Department can share immigration status. Federal law requires that immigration status be provided to federal agencies, if requested. However, state and local police agencies are not required to take any action based on immigration status or to provide law enforcement support to federal agencies by detaining a person or participating in a raid related to immigration status.
Will the police help immigration officials with raids or other operations?
The Sammamish Police Department does not enforce federal civil immigration policy, including raids, arrests or other enforcement action based on federal civil immigration laws.
