Critical Aquifer Recharge Areas (CARAs)

Critical aquifer recharge areas (CARAs) are areas in the City of Sammamish that have a critical effect on aquifers used for potable water. CARAs are vulnerable to contamination or susceptible to reduced recharge.

CARAs are protected by regulations on development and activities within those areas, including prohibiting activities that have the potential to increase the risk of contamination of drinking water supplies.
