City Hall to function as warming center

City Hall and other public facilities are closed for typical business Nov. 20 AND Nov. 21, as crews clear away debris from last night's storm.  We encourage everyone to stay at home, shelter in place, until the roads are safe. If you need a place to warm up, City Hall will function as a warming center until 5 p.m. on both days.

Car Seat Safety Inspections

Auto accidents are the number one cause of death for children 6 months and up in the United States. Proper use of child car seats is one of the most simple and effective ways to protect children’s lives. Only the correct use of child car seats will offer the protection that children need.

We all want our children to travel safely in cars. Installing a car seat for younger children and babies can be a challenge. The Sammamish Police Department has a certified child-passenger safety technician who can check to confirm car seats are installed correctly. During your 1-hour appointment, you will be shown how to use and install a car seat on your own, and how to properly buckle your child into their seat for safe travel.

Appointments are generally available Monday-Thursday only between 10am-4pm.  Some details about the seat check are listed below. Please read this information and provide 3 options (with different dates) for when you can come to Sammamish City Hall for the appointment.

  • Each appointment (for one car seat) is approximately 60 minutes long. This appointment covers proper installation of your car seat into the car using both lap/shoulder belt and LATCH methods. We will also instruct how to harness the child (or doll) into the seat.
  • The car seat should be installed prior to your appointment and cannot be expired. We ask that the seat be installed so that we can document installation issues prior to receiving any training.
  • Please bring your car seat manual, your vehicle owner's manual and if possible, the child who will be using the seat to your appointment.
  • Please make sure that the back of your car is clean and clear so that our technician has enough space to work and instruct you on the proper installation and use of your child’s car seat.
