National Night Out

National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. It provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

On Tuesday August 6th, 2024 - neighborhoods throughout the City of Sammamish are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 41st annual “Night Out.” The Sammamish Night Out, in conjunction with National Night Out across America, is designed to:

  • Heighten crime prevention awareness;
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts;
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit in crime prevention campaigns;
  • Send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back!

In the past, many citizens have found that Night Out is a fun time for neighbors. Through the traditional activity of keeping outdoor lighting on, residents have found many creative ways to spend the evening outside with neighbors.  Night Out has been an enjoyable and effective way to promote police/community partnerships for our city.

Participation in Night Out is simple:

  1. At 5:00 p.m., on Tuesday, August 6th, turn on all outside lights. Lights are a visible statement of neighborhood unity against crime.

  1. Between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., join with your neighbors outside in some planned activity. This might include a BBQ, a potluck, an ice cream social or just walking around and visiting with each other.
