Increased Risk of Landslides Due to Wet Weather

Release Date: January 06, 2020

The NWS has issued a Special Weather Statement for King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties. Heavy rainfall through Tuesday will lead to an increased threat of landslides in Western WA.

Soil moisture will remain at high levels across western Washington. Additional heavy rainfall of 1-2 inches for the Lowlands and 2-4 inches for the mountains is expected through Tuesday night. This amount of rain will put extra pressure on soil instability, leading to an increased threat of landslides.

Areas above 5000 feet in elevation will see mostly snow and not be affected.
