Kokanee Salmon are Using the New Fish Passage at Ebright Creek

The Ebright Creek Fish Passage Project was prioritized by Sammamish City Council to support the important recovery of native Kokanee Salmon. Coordination with King County and the Kokanee Work Group led to securing funds for the project which was awarded over $400,000 in grants through the Brian Abbott Fish Barrier Removal Board and the King County Flood Control District’s Cooperative Watershed Management Grant Program.

About Ebright Creek Fish Passage Project

Construction started in July 2021 and, although the team encountered some challenges, like delivery delays and costly soil contamination from old road work, the project was successfully finished on October 15, 2021. The project includes a fully fish-passable box culvert, 19 pieces of large woody material, over 40 boulders to create pools and habitat for spawning fish, and more than 500 native plants to restore the floodplain and create shade.
