New Third Community Van Servicing Sammamish
The Community Van Program has recently received a third van from King County Metro to be used for local and regional trips by the community. The new van is parked at Klahanie Park and is now available for trips.
What is Community Van?
This is a rideshare pilot program brought to Sammamish neighborhoods by King County Metro in partnership with the City of Sammamish, to provide community members with a new way to share a ride. This service provides shared rides, either one-time or recurring, to popular destinations throughout the region. Trips are available throughout the day, evening, and on weekends to provide you with customized options for getting around when bus service doesn't meet your needs.
How it Works?
- Community members travel together in King County Metro vans to local destinations throughout the day, evening and weekends
- Group trips and stops are organized ahead of time by the Community Trip Coordinator (CTC)
- Riders can contact their CTC or fill out a trip request form to find a pre-scheduled community van trip or to request a new trip at least two business days in advance
- Each rider will pay a Metro one-zone fare for the round trip while the driver travels for free
- Riders can suggest a trip they know is popular with their friends and neighbors
- Accessible community vans are available upon request. Inform the CTC about your needs before your trip
