Update from City of Sammamish on Republic Services

Service Alert from Republic Services

The Public Works team of the City of Sammamish has been in daily discussions with Republic Services. We are providing this update to the Sammamish community:

  • The strike is still in effect and continues to be a day-to-day event. The work stoppage is led by union members from California, and is affecting union members in Washington state and nationally.
  • The City of Sammamish is reviewing its contract with Republic Services and is working to exercise the clause for billing credit for customers who have missed two or more weeks of service. Republic Services would work directly with customers on billing credit. We will update Sammamish residents with a final resolution of billing credits as we get them.
  • We are in discussion with Republic Services on the possibility of utilizing trash drop-off locations again, although this may not be possible due to their limited resources during the strike. Another option for residents is to bring their trash to King County Transfer Stations. While we realize this is not optimal, this is an available option.

We are as frustrated as you with this situation and want to assure the Sammamish community that we are working continually with Republic Services management towards a resolution.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please continue to visit Republic’s Sammamish page for the most recent updates.
