The dams regulated by the Department of Ecology in Sammamish:
- Store at least 10 acre-feet (or 3.2 million gallons) of water
- Are earthen-fill dams
- Were built for stormwater detention
All dams are inspected by the City annually. They are also inspected and regulated by the Dam Safety Office (DSO) of the Washington State Department of Ecology (Ecology).
An important part of being a dam owner is to keep an Emergency Action Plan (EAP). They are updated regularly and can be provided upon request.
