Project Summary
In the fall of 2021, the City executed a design contract for the Sammamish Commons Skatepark Expansion Project. The scope of work includes design development, preparation of construction drawings and bidding materials, construction administration, and project close-out.
Background
The skatepark was built in 2006 as part of the development of Upper Sammamish Commons. After more than a decade of use, the 2018 PRO Plan recommended modifications to the skatepark, including concrete repairs and an expansion of the skate bowl.
In 2019, an assessment of the skatepark was completed, which provided a comprehensive summary of the condition and function of the facility. The assessment recommended expanding the skatepark along the north end to increase the functionality of the existing features of the park.
Additionally, the assessment recommended some minor repairs to the overall skatepark. These repairs were completed in the summer of 2021 and included pressure washing, crack sealing, repair and resealing of expansion joints, and filling concrete voids.
Project Budget
A total of $300,000 is allocated in the 2021-2022 Parks CIP Budget for the Skatepark Expansion Project at Sammamish Commons and is inclusive of all planning, design, and construction costs.
